M-Audio Team Up With Softube For The M-Track C Series Passive-Active Pack Promo

The new M-Audio C Series interfaces certainly look the part, I’ve not had chance to get a hands-on with them but if they sound half as good as they look then they make for a great entry-level interface. So recently we got the news that M-Audio have teamed up with venerable plug-in developer Softube to give existing and new users of the C Series interfaces a classy collection of three very different equalizers.

Everybody loves free stuff, but rarely do you get much useful stuff for free in this life! First up in the Passive-Active Pack is the Passive Equalizer, meticulously modeled from an iconic German three-band EQ for a nice and clear, open sound.

Next up is the Active Equalizer, modeled from a distinctive Swiss EQ design and is perfect for surgical cuts and boosts in your mix. Total mix precision.

The final part of the pack is the Focusing Equalizer, an untraditional and inspiring method of EQing and is a concept exclusive to Softube. There is even an additional saturation circuit based on the distortion and compression from their famous FET Compressor.

These will be available through December 31st and all M-Track C Series interfaces can be found here.

Roland Announce Rubix Line Of Audio Interfaces

Roland have announced their new line of portable USB audio interfaces for Mac, PC and iPad. The Rubix line consists of 3 units – The Rubix 22, 24 and the 44 all of which are designed with transparent, low-noise pre-amps and support for audio resolutions up to 24-bit/192kHz.

A ground lift switch on the back should also help laptop users with ground loop issues. There’s a switchable power source on the 22 and 24 which allows you to power the interfaces with a USB battery when connecting them up to an iPad. The 44 does however require an AC adapter. The activity LEDs are visible from the front and the top of the units, making monitoring signal input from any angle very convenient .

Focusrite Launches The new Red4Pre Flagship Interface

Focusrite have announced their new flagship Red 4Pre, a 58-in, 64-out audio interface that offers a whole wealth of connectivity making it ideal to sit at the center of any high-end studio, or indeed many larger scale applications including many live audio scenarios.

Key headline features include four newly-developed, digitally controlled ‘Red Evolution’ pre-amps offering a clean 63dB of ultra clean gain and high-headroom instrument inputs all routed through the newly developed high-performance conversion system, that in itself offers 121dB of dynamic range to work with.

FRed204Pre20Lifestyle20120HR

Software control allows recall of settings and stereo linking, plus configuration of HPF, polarity invert and individual phantom power. The pre-amps include Focusrite’s unique ‘Air’ effect, recreating in the analogue domain the sound of the transformer-based mic pre-amps in the classic ISA range — suitable for bringing out the breathy quality of a vocal or adding presence to an acoustic guitar. Red 4Pre also includes high-headroom instrument inputs, instantly accessible from the front panel.

The Red 4Pre’s new high-performance conversion system features ‘parallel path summing’, where two matched converters are run in parallel to increase the signal to noise ratio. They operate at up to 24-bit, 192 kHz sampling — ideal for high-resolution audio — with a dynamic range of 118dB(A-D)/121dB (D-A). The Red 4Pre delivers ≤0.0009% THD+Noise and a stated frequency response flat from 20Hz to 35kHz ±0.25 dB or better.

FRed204Pre20Lifestyle20220HR

Rounding off the package the are dual Thunderbolt 2 ports to connect to any DAW while allowing daisy-chaining of drives and displays. Dual DigiLink ports connect the Red 4Pre directly to any Pro Tools | HD system and in addition the Red 4Pre features built-in Dante network audio connectivity: use the dual Ethernet ports to connect any Dante-compatible product such as units from Focusrite’s own RedNet range, adding up to 64 channels via audio over Ethernet.

The Focusrite Red4Pre should be shipping around the end of March 2016.

The PreSonus Studio 192 Interface

Presonus Studio 192

Offering up to 26 inputs and 32 outputs at 48kHz or 8 x 14 at 192 kHz simultaneously streams the Presonus Studio 192 could be an ideal solution for those wishing to mic, record and mix the whole band together. Offering 8 built in XMAX preamps with zero latency monitoring and the forthcoming option to expand your I/O by added a DigiMax DP88 8-preamp converter later in the year, this could be a stong contender in a section of the market which currently feels like it has a lack of options in the midrange that this interface is likely to target.

The Studio 192 is designed to be the central hub for any project or professional studio. The onboard Talkback mic can be routed to any mix and the onboard dim and mono options let you take control of your Main mix. Listen to any mix from either headphone amp. Use the ten balanced outputs for monitor mixing, speaker switching, or both, depending on how you work

Presonus Studio 192 rearControlling the Studio 192 you have the Presonus UC Surface control software with clients available for Windows, Mac and the Ipad allowing you quick and easy access to your recording and routing options no matter where you are in the studio.

Steinberg UR 22 Interface

Steinberg today have thrown their hat into the budget interface ring with the announcement of the UR-22 interface. Details on the hardware is that it is a 2in2out unit capable of 24bit 192khz recording and features a couple the D-PRE preamps from the midrange MR series interfaces.
